wanna see masterpieces of japanese films??
today is the last chance to see japanese old and good films in tokyo! you know, there is few chances to enjoy japanese films because usualy there is no subtitles on their screens and DVDs. it is said that japanese film makers have misgivings about probrem of copyright. so unfortunately, foreigners can not able to understand japanese films propely though there are some excellent japanese films.
today i went to "Rediscovery of Japanese Cinema" in Akasaka. Japan foundation promotes film fair to show masterpieces of japanese films for foreigners in tokyo. they picked up some interesting old films and put english subtitles on screen. i watched "Crucified Lovers" written by Chikamatu Monzaemon. though the film was made about 50 years ago, its story is still enjoyable.
i strongly recommend you to see japanese traditional films if you are free today. i dont know whether you like it or not, but they are one of the japanese sophisticated films.
tomorrow, they will show "Elegant Beast" and "Girls of Dark". and the ticket cost only 600yen.
